University of Lahore Forms Inquiry Committee After Student Suicide Attempt The University of Lahore has constituted an eight-member inquiry committee following a reported suicide attempt by a female student on campus. The decision was announced by the university administration through an official notification. According to the notification, the committee will be headed by Muhammad Bilal Khan, the retired Dean of the Faculty of Law. Other members include Dr. Mughis, Dr. Ahmad Bilal, Farukh Hafeez, Dr. Ayesha Mahmood, Ali Aslam, Muhammad Amir, and Ismahan Ramzan. Two members of the committee are classmates of the student involved in the incident. The committee has been assigned the task of thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and submitting a detailed report once the inquiry is completed. Hospital officials confirmed that the student, identified as Fatima, is 24 years old and was brought to the emergency department in critical condition. She suffered multiple injuries, including fractures to her arms, legs, and ribs, along with a severe head injury after falling from the fourth floor of a university building. She is currently on a ventilator, and her condition remains serious. Medical sources stated that once her condition stabilizes, she will be shifted to the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences for further treatment. Fatima is a first-semester student of pharmacy and was immediately admitted to the ICU of a private hospital linked to the university. University sources revealed that the student’s brother had dropped her at the campus earlier that morning. Following the incident, the university administration locked all entrances and announced the suspension of academic activities until further notice. Authorities are treating the case as an attempted suicide, and further details are expected after the completion of the inquiry.
